#Pure music vs audirvana plus software
I would appreciate members opinion regarding the best current music playback software for the Mac Mini server. I looked on the internet but found very few comparisons for the recent versions of software for a Mac Mini Music Server. In either case, you press a button and music starts playing.

It appears from what I could find that either the Pure Music 3.0 and Audirvana Plus 2 would be a good choice. The software players do have a lot of features that are kind of silly and add to a sense things are more complex then they are. No Audirvana, disabling spotlight doesn't make music sound better. And yes, Pure Music is garbage and they should be embarrassed to charge money for it. Your thought would be greatly appreciated. Pure Music offers greater configurability, and has a "play-through" mode that allows you to pipe youtube and other streamed sources through its music engine. It requires that you use iTunes as your music library - and so you'll tend to prefer to have all of your files in alac or aiff format. Audirvana is a bit simpler in its user interface with fewer configuration settings. No play-through feature, but you may not need this in a standalone file-based music server.įor a music server, you'll want a remote. With Pure Music you use the iTunes Remote app and with Audirvana, they provide a custom remote.

#Pure music vs audirvana androidīut I'm not sure if Android is supported. I have a preference (in my system according to my own listening tastes) for the sound of Pure Music. On the other hand, I would hesitate to say that Audirvana is in any way inferior. Both offer a slightly different, but excellent view into the sound.įallback thanks for the input. Is it fairly simple to setup/use your iTunes library with Audirvana? I am not thrilled with the Apple remote I use with older version of Pure Music. It the Audirvana remote control better in your opinion? Have you tried Amarra software and if so how does it compare to PM and Audirvana? Thank you very much for your thoughts and help. Getting your music into Audirvana is simple. You select the locations where your music resides and then those directories are synchronized. I made the mistake and automatically 'upgraded' my MacBook Air (Apple M1 chip) to the latest OS (11.6) and at the same time 'upgraded' my Audirvana subscription to the latest version (Audirvana Studio). There is also a synchronizer specifically for your iTunes library which (I believe) takes advantage of your existing iTunes metadata. Even as a former software engineer, I felt surprised at the difference in sound between Amarra, Pure Music, and Audirvana Plus. The two do no longer talk to each other, and I can no longer play my iTunes library (>1000 entries). You can use Audirvana in an integrated mode with iTunes - but I don't like this much. I just use Audirvana's built-in library features.

I don't think the Audirvana remote is any better than Apple's Remote.

On the other hand, I find both quite acceptable and haven't had any problems adjusting volume. It's been too long since I've regularly used Amarra, so not much I can say there.
